NEWS-Taiwan Government B2B Subsidies -Key Takeaways from 3 Speakers

Enspyre was proud to invite Clark Lin from Hito Startup (台灣夯創業) to share their insights about B2B Startup subsidies from the Taiwanese government. We were honored to co-host this event with Dragons’ Chamber, Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan, MUSA Trademark, Taiwan Impact Entrepreneurs and Cha Voyage (福葉茶).

The Taiwanese government offers a variety of subsidies for entrepreneurs and startups, with central and local government agencies allocating over NT$500 million annually to support business growth.

Clark Lin, Hito Startup : Unlocking Government Subsidies for B2B Startups

Clark Lin is a subsidy consultant and the main speaker for this workshop. He and his team (台灣夯創業) has successfully secured over NT$100 million from the Taiwanese government for their clients. Based on his experience and research, the success rate for subsidy applications is approximately 30-40%. ESG in retail, green energy, AI, and IoT Manufacturing, are the most popular sectors for applying the subsidy.

He mentioned that government subsidies provide a great boost for startups, but the application process can be challenging. Applicants must cover 50% of the total project budget with their own or investor’s funds. He also reminded startup teams that if they plan to outsource some tasks, they must ensure compliance with subsidy regulations as only part of the budget can be used for outsourced services.

Lucy, Enspyre: Generating Business Value Through B2B Outreach

Lucy from Enspyre built on Clark’s insights, highlighting how Enspyre’s B2B Lead Generation services can help startups demonstrate their business value in the market. By conducting strategic cold outreach and creating hot leads, Enspyre supports startups in securing early growth and establishing their market value.

Enspyre is experienced with securing subsidies and can therefore provide quotes, MOUs and reports in the correct formats to make it easier for our clients to apply for and stay compliant with subsidy regulations.

Julia, Keego: Overcoming Challenges of Startup Subsidy Application

Keego is a cargo e-bike delivery startup. In 2023, they successfully obtained the SITI R&D subsidy from the Taipei City government and Julia Chiu was in charge of the whole process. Her reminder for everyone was to be well prepared with the paperworks and carefully set and achieve the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in each phase. Because Keego is an international team, they faced banking-related challenges and unexpected problems. Despite the challenges, Keego was satisfied with the outcome, as the government later introduced them to additional subsidy opportunities and provided free promotional support.
